Re: posts missing, I don't know. Possibly an error on our part or an inopportune interruption while we were upgrading scripts yesterday.

Re: email on the forum failing it; we've got a fix in progress so you should be receiving mail from the forum now. ("If you did not receive this email, please email. LOL @ computers")

Over time metalheads gain enough experience and insight to realize that, with a few exceptions, the metal genre is unthinking slobs slashing out three chord rock and pretending that somehow it is more "profound" than other rock music. This has reached its peak in black metal, where the crowd who believe that socialization is more important than music content now impress each other with new aesthetic recombinations of the same old, same old.

(In part inspired by talk on this board and three years of discussion on other ANUS forums.)

Rip the sacred flesh
Sodomize the holy asshole
Drink the red blood of the mother of earth
Masturbation on the dead body of christ
The king of Jews is dead
and so are the lies
Vomit on the host of Heaven
Masturbate on the throne of God
Break the seals of angels
Drink the sweet blood of Christ
Taste the flesh of the priest
Sodomize holy nuns
The king of Jews is a liar
The Heavens will burn
Dethrone the son of God
God is dead
Holiness is gone
Purity is gone
Prayers are burned
Covered in black shit
Rape the holy ghost
Unclean birth of Jesus Christ
Heaven will fall
Fuck the church
Fuck Christ
Fuck the Virgin
Fuck the gods of Heaven
Fuck the name of Jesus

CULT OF LUNA: New album "Salvation" out today in USA

Swedish noisecore stars Cult Of Luna blew away audiences in the UK with the new material from their critically acclaimed new album "Salvation". Their follow up to "The Beyond" finds the band in a slightly mellower mood, but they haven¹t lost any of that crushing intensity, that is seeing them leading the burgeoning noisecore scene at the moment.

Check out the track "Leave Me Here":

If you live in Sweden then you can catch the band at one of these venues:

Oct 19th (tuesday) SE LINKOPING Skylten
Oct 20th (Wednesday) SE GOTHENBURG Sticky Fingers

"Salvation" is released in the US on 19th October 2004

(Noisecore is noise pop with a few hardcore stylings. This sample at least sounds like a simpler "My Blood Valentine" meets later Neurosis.)

THE CHASM: New Album "The Spell Of Retribution" released 8th November

The Chasm's debut album for Wicked World "The Spell Of Retribution" will be released in UK & Europe on 8th November 2004. The 66 minute long heavy metal epic takes a lot of it¹s influences from the band's South American background incorporating spirtuality, ancient heritage, philosophy and a genuine reverance for their background. Through the band's 10 year career they have never lost sight of their love of the metal classics that inspired them (Slayer, Judas Priest and Bathory) but The Chasm are unique, no-one else sounds like them.

Check out an MP3 for the track "Fortress" here:

(Fear the hints of retro, and heavy metal, most probably.)

Black metal from Texas that fuses the Norse style of epic poetic songs with the more feral, aggressive, primal riffing of early 1990s death/black metal.

Metal / Metal zine writer's book
« on: October 17, 2004, 10:39:25 AM »
Jon Konrath is proud to announce that he has released his fourth book, entitled _Dealer Wins: Misadventures in the New Las Vegas_. It's a 158-page collection of travel essays, articles, and photos of various visits to Las Vegas. It includes five trip reports, which were re-edited for the book, plus four new essays, and tons of photos.

A bunch of stories are covered in the book, from skydiving to rollercoasters to machine guns to sports cars to the crappy rooms at Circus Circus to accidentally flooding a Rain Man suite at Stardust to the infamous tale about why the author is not allowed to eat at Smith and Wollensky anymore.

The book is available from lulu.com at http://lulu.com/jkonrath and you can visit http://rumored.com/dealerwins for more info. It has a UPC/ISBN and will be distributed by Ingram and will be available at online booksellers like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and so on. It is
available immediately at lulu for $9.99 plus shipping/handling.

Lulu is also re-releasing his first book _Summer Rain_. It is now available with the real front cover that it was intended to have, in the same 6x9" size but at only 500 pages instead of 660 due to a better layout. It is available for $16.95 only at lulu and will not be at Amazon or other places. (It has no bar code/ISBN.)

"Convicted" and "Money Talks" in full MP3:

This thrash band were one of the founders of the genre, taking punk riffs and putting them in metal songs that were fast, short, abrupt and violent. "Convicted" in parts sounds like a death metal album. These were recently released by Relapse records, but are now seemingly hard to find, so it is excellent that someone has put them online in this format.

If you haven't heard this band, remember that this is an ancestor of most of today's grindcore and death metal.
