I think the younger generations are obviously progressing, everything progresses with time, but it’s annoying to wait for the world around you to play catch up when you’re already on that level.

Proper education and culture exposure will catch everyone up, but again, waiting is annoying…

I feel sorry for this paragon of progressive humanity and all the forward-thinking fans his band has. It must be so tough to have to wait for rest of us (unenlightened boobs and insecure children in 'man suits') to come around. At least his egalitarian utopia is a foregone conclusion and we can all rest easy.

Indeed. Not all of us mouth-breathers can be so intellectually and emotionally astute as to fully comprehend that the embrace of faggotry, national/racial suicide, radical-feminism and a host of similarly "progressive" ideas and ideals shall set us all on the path to Overman-dom!!!

Curiously, I've been listening to this bleeding-heart bilge since I was a teenager...I'm 42 now...and for all this "progress," I only see the species moving backwards. I'm so pedestrian that way...

Typical liberal/progressive twaddle - a product of modernism in pure specimen!  Besdies, what has Dillinger Escape Plan got to do with Metal one way or the other? I've successfully ignored this band right alone, and will continue to comfortably do so.

Regardless of Sharon's part in this, that loathsome, obnoxious Jewess that she is, the fact remains, without Ward, it is just that much less appealing, no matter how I look at it. As DM/BM notes, this "project" has gotten no further than the idea stage for ages now...there must surely be more than a few reasons for that.

Sabbath had its day - they were brilliant and their legacy is undeniable. But like so, so many(that is to say basically everyone), their time passes, the creative spark fizzles out and they just become a nostalgia act more than anything. That's probably about where this project fits, regardless of Sharon teh shrew's meddling.

Perhaps he is descended of Fritz Kuhn, leader of the National Socialist "German-American Bund."  Either way, I'm not scared - cool link.

Sounds pretty good really! There is no way to overstate how much I love the first Angel Witch album, so if it is even close to that quality, I'd be pretty pleased!  And a huge YES to a tour of the US!!??

The link is cool in general - looked an excelellent show!

Not that I held out a lot of hope for anything terribly brilliant from this project, but either way that decision instantly makes it 25% less interesting out of the gate!

That must be awesome. You get to meet the DRI gang. I think they've still got Harald Oimonen on bass, the guy who co-wrote Murder in the Front Row about bay area speed metal.

I just received my copy of MITFR actually. Lot's a great pics from the old days and still nostalgic for me, though I was an east-coaster myself. I dig these retro book releases...not sure if the appeal would quite be the same for younger Hessians though(?)

Sanitarium is such an emo song:

Quote
Sanitarium, leave me be
Sanitarium, just leave me alone

Seriously, those could be Asking Alexandria lyrics.

Right on. After its initial burst of anger, rage and violence, thrash/speed-metal went all sorts of "emo" lyrically(and perhaps not a little musically too) for some reason. This is largely why, at the time, I just lost all touch with thrash/speed-metal, and moved on blissfully to Death and Black Metal, essentially never looking back. While I absolutely LOVE the early Thrash/Speed masterpeices unto the day - what came swiftly thereafter was often a bunch of bleeding-heart bilge in song and verse!

Out of all the photos of Quorthon, someone had to choose the one where he is puckering his sexy lips for the return of true metal.

I thought dude looked like he was just talking or some such actually.

The Hail Of Bullets comparison is right on the mark it would seem. I was afraid of this...

Black Metal destroyed itself pretty horribly though.

What genre didn't? Death Metal devolved into parody and lost all its mystery. Thrash/speed castrated itself in the 90's either by doing nothing new, or becoming alt. rock/metal.

All true. But I still maintain that Black Metal did it most spectacularly. Perhaps it is because BM was, if truth be told, already dangerously close to self-parody from the beginning(I remember very well back when "A Blaze..." and the like came out the reaction from most harcore Hessians I knew was mockery - not hails and awe!!), and was the easiest to exploit by the mainstream once it began to gain notice. BM went from dangerous, dark and frightening to mall-goth clownery seemingly overnight. By the time most in America even became aware of BM, its best days were well behind it.

These days when I attend shows and see some unpronouncable BM band of nobodies in Halloween make-up I literally cringe!  I will take mediocre, though sincere Death Metal over that all day long. Perhaps that's just my tastes though.
