It can be interesting to make this observation whereby two top tier albums that aren’t generally accepted to be the bands artistic peak, but occur correspondingly in the ascent and descent from that peak are compared and contrasted. Not that it’s always so clear cut, but it can be useful to take note of the progression and decline of quality over time. Is the ascent steeper than the descent? Can the composer ever re-ascend that peak? These are questions I would like to know the answers to. Sometimes without seeing where the path actually leads, we might gather enough clues to form a picture and at least guess at where it could have led.

To put it in such a way.

Metal fans will tell you that the closest parallel to their music is classical. But unlike classical it is music that belongs underneath the earth. At least for the time. If the world out there suddenly regained sanity then perhaps metal wouldn't be metal. But for now it’s like being in a world within a world.

People are not little stones, or keys in someone's pocket, that can be moved from one place to another just like that.... Therefore, we cannot precisely arrange for only Serbs to stay in one part of the country while removing others painlessly. I do not know how Mr. Krajišnik and Mr. Karadžic will explain that to the world. That is genocide. - Ratko Mladic

Mortal throne of Nazarene or Diabolical Conquest

and why?

Soulside Journey or Panzerfaust

The list goes on and on.

Interzone / Re: Gustav Mahler

Mahler always grabs my attention but fails to connect on the deep level of Bruckner, Schubert or Beethoven. Some of his melodies are magnificent, but it also has the annoying tendency to stay in my head like pop music for the coming days. After hearing a Bruckner symphony, I forget it immediately but it leaves such a grand feeling in my soul.

Hats off to any band that would rather disappear because they had nothing further to say, only to return decades later without stuffing up.

I saw these guys and gals play live recently and it was unreal. Most of the setlist was from Loveless. They only played one song off of MBV. It was extremely loud. Felt like being inside a cocoon or a tornado, one or the other.

what about the men who buy prostitutes? The consensus is of course that it's a shameful act, but then again I can't really say how it is anything anything other than expensive, more pleasurable masturbation.

To put it this way.

The poor animals know no better, and because of this god forgives them.
But he does not forgive infidels.

Interzone / Re: Is Capitalism bad?
« on: April 02, 2013, 01:00:18 AM »
A lot of people seem to have the conviction that capitalism, itself, is bad. Is it?

No. But it should be a means to an end.

Capitalism produces what people want. The problem lately is that most people want cheap tvs, cellphones, and horrible pop music. The iTard Generations.

Seems to me the fault lies with the desire, not as much with those who fulfill it. If the population wanted honest business practices, ecology, and high quality products, that's what they would get.

But they don't.

I still think people are led by the nose. Government makes their dysfunction possible.

How about this?

Everyone wants their daughter to be a prostitute, have some dude cum on her face, maybe penetrate her anus, or call some friends so everyone gets a turn.

People are dumbshits. They don't want a whore for a daughter but also don't see a problem with her attending the 'get better orgasms class'. It just doesn't add up.

I'm looking forward to the new Summoning and am curious about that Burzum synth album.

At any rate, it takes me a while to really get around to hearing new stuff unless I'm already fanatical about that band.

But as always I'm keeping my eyes peeled for long overdue albums by Gorguts, Kraftwerk, Beherit, Demoncy and anyone else that never dropped the ball.

Metal peaked in the early 90s. Up until that time there were not many rubbish bands. Assimilation into populist culture occurred later on but it certainly didn't start out that way.

Sometimes I try to think things out with logic, other times I go with my gut feeling. Using the two together without relying on either helps develop natural intuition. This is a true form of strength.
