Metal / Re: Open letter to black metal

Man, who cares about the so called "death" of Black Metal. I'm not worried about saving some kind of "scene", I just want to discover good music, regardless of genre. Let Black Metals' corpse rest in peace.

I agree.
But it still makes angry. Who cares if black metal has "sold out", true black metal will still be remembered, as Maximus said "what we do in life echoes in eternity"

Metal / Re: ITNE
« on: June 07, 2005, 02:42:54 PM »
:)ITNE is a fine album, no question, if you don't like it fair enough, but it is loved by many. The thing that annoys me is that everyone bashes thier later albums. It is hard not to compare them to ITNE but if you manage not to then they don't seem so bad.

When I was first informed of Emperor I new very little about them and purchased their later albums first, I really enjoyed them. When I first purchased ITNE it did make the other albums look small but i still love them dearly, as decent, well composed music and not necessarily as black metal.

Metal / Re: What does Black Metal mean to u?
« on: June 06, 2005, 05:18:14 PM »
:'(The glory days of black metal will echo down the generations, early Immortal, early Emperor, Darkthrone and Burzum to name a few. But the bands that these legends spawned stand for image, not music or the black metal ideals. The philosophy that it preaches will always mean something to me but unless bands start to bring elements of the old gaurd's music with a hint of originality in there, then black metal, like so many other genres, will die. Black Metal is the world of the wolf, and since when did the wolf care about what it looked like.
