Reign in Blood is the best "metal" album ever released.

I am of Norwegian and Swedish decent.  My mother's maiden name is Thorson, that should explain enough.

btw, I hate all blue-gumming, spear-chucking, mooncrickets.

Metal / New DRAWN AND QUARTERED CD Release date!
« on: May 11, 2007, 12:30:28 AM »
"The new Cd is finally being pressed, and will be released June 26th! Go to moribundcult.com to view the cover. As I mentioned previously there will be all three videos, and a bonus disc of demos and unreleased tracks. Thank you to all of our friends and fans for making contact with us this year, and have checked out the forum at metal-realm. This is definitely the most antcipated DRAWN AND QUARTERED record to date, and will be well worth the wait. "Merciless Hammer of Lucifer" is a dark,vigourous and layered piece of work, with some classic D&Q songs, with plenty of devious twists, elements of despair and destruction. Technically, and artistically  the cd exceeds previous efforts. Show your power with your wallet, or else you will stuck with nothing but straight edge vegan metal that METAL BLADE records is passing off as "metal". Stand up and unite, brothers and sisters! Request our video at mtv2.com, make your local record store stock our stuff , or order it at orders@moribundcult.com.  Let Odin at moribund know you want to see DRAWN AND QUARTERED in your town, now! We wanna come out but we need a booking agent and some support from our label and the underground to demand it! We are a real fucking band that kicks ass live, have opened for all the greats. In order for them to get us a tour we have to reach certain sales quotas. Show that there is demand for this band out there!"

Wrath's blog about the tour so far is an interesting read, he sounds more "human" than I expected! ;)

It should continue to be interesting throughout.

Ravn countered by asking me why I don't just change my legal name to Wrath. I was surprised at this suggestion, and asked if this is what he did. He said, "It's on my passport. When I show it to people I say 'Yes, Ravn. Fuck off!

I hung out with Martin in Seattle back when 1349 opened for Celtic Frost last October...Ravn seemed to have this very "fuck you" attitude in general.  I remember when I was talking to Martin before the gig and Ravn happened to walk by, so Martin quickly asked him how he was feeling with this sly smirk about him...Ravn simply mumbled something under his breath and stormed away.  I guess according to Martin, they had some party at a local hotel after the previous night's show.

I was 23 when "Legion" came out back in '92,  and I was a huge fan of their debut!  So with that much said, I was looking for a follow-up that would continue with the "Dead by Dawn" style of playing...and was I ever wrong with that assumption!  To be quite honest, I "HATED" Legion when it first came out, and just like Glen had said about its caliber at the time, it was way over the top.  Only a few years later after going back and digesting it, did I really start to appreciate it for what it was:  Pure genious!

Metal / Death:  Death-Metal Vs. Prog-Metal
« on: February 04, 2007, 03:28:14 AM »
I was with Death from the very beginning, no pun intended.

Death = Deathmetal

The first 2 albums are the definition of the genre, but the 3rd being borderline of Prog only for the aspect of James Murphy entering the picture.  Of course there's nothing wrong with the James Murphy style of classical soloing imo, but unfortunately that cemented the fact that Death would NEVER again return to DM!  Call me old-fashioned, but in the mid to late 90's I never understood how the younger generation of metal-heads preferred the newer "prog" style of Death over the older, brutal, and obviously more genuine and honest style of metal that they once had.

Death = Progmetal

There's no denying the muscianship, but the meaning and atmosphere quickly disolved.

The philosophy lying within is uncanny, could very well be any one of you bastards.  Just don't get all religious on my ass!

Good SRP reference as well.

Of course they will be missing Seattle. ::)  It figures.   Upon my inquiry, Wrath had said they would finally make it up to the NW, apparently that's not true according to the tour dates.

Metal / Moonlight Sonata

I simply love minor chords.  I could listen to this song a million times over and still be enthralled by the emotion it creates.  It never gets old to me.

Any other suggestions of classical titles that have that same somber caliber?

It would be very much appreciated.
