Malevolent Creation - The Ten Commandments & Retribution

i have Retribution. pretty decent album, though not really distinguishable from the crowd. the guitars are mixed far too low, and are overpowered by the drums. shame, as there are some tasty riffs on display.

No, it doesn't make sense -- thrash and speed metal are totally different.

Idiots always misuse terms, even in 1984. But among the smart people, usage was clear.

Some people were actually calling Metallica and Slayer black metal back then too. Should we start doing that also?

The ignorance of people astounds me.

it was ignorance because subgenres were not as developed as they are today. like that split called "Death Metal" with Helloween, Running Wild, and Hellhammer. only Hellhammer is remotely close to death metal by our standards today.

hindsight is always 20-20.

Pretty bland early Gay Midget Fecal Pr0n (GMFP), though a lot better than it's predecessor Vampyr. You'd be better off sticking to the Az-I-Dahak and Ordog.

How's the new Blut Aus Nord album compared to their other work?

once again, the word filters here are hilarious.

i liked Az-I-Dahak but i think that Empire of Blood is BF's best work (that i have heard). those vocals are simply evil in its true form, and the medieval vampyric atmosphere is very convincing. plus, an excellent assortment of tremolo melodies are abound throughout the tracks.

You're missing the point. The idea is to give examples of a distinction of which most people are ignorant, hence the misleading term "Thrash Metal".

I bet if this is posted around other metal boards you'll receive a lot of indignant reactions.

i am not missing any point. i understand ANUS' definition of thrash.

i was merely pointing out other good bands.

i personally wouldve gone for Razor (the Sheepdog years) in place of Testament.

also missing are mentions of Sodom, Kreator, Sepultura, and Sabbat (UK).

why the fuck does everyone love Testament? theyre a limp Metallica imitation at best.

id rather listen to better bands in that genre.

i said very little of drone is worth it, i didnt say it was a genre bereft of good bands.

i like Asva, and Burning Witch (both Stephen O'Malley projects). Earth is also pretty good, as well as some of Boris' material.

on the topic of Stephen O'Malley projects, Thorr's Hammer (no not the N-S-B-M band) is very good death/doom. slow, pondering, very heavy, full of despair, with an excellent singer.

That's about the truth of it. Socially-conditioned responses, and the cheap way to succeed is to be a hipster and drum up big drama about a whole lotta nothing.

i actually quoted lyrics from Misery Index's "Scene But Not Heard". look them up if you dont know them, quite good death metal/grindcore mix.

joking aside, i was never a fan of Mortiis even when i did hear him. his ambient work never caught my interest.....and lets not talk about his later stuff.

What have we learned, in seventeen years of glam-rock in the grave? - That history repeats itself...again

And right on cue, Pavlov's dogs will dance

"Like dude, this band just sucked until they broke it down"

...its coming yet again, I thing I feel it, its coming right now...dance you fashion fuckers

Brie Brie Brie (It's fuckin good cheese) You gotta love it

Always posing, myspace whoring
Mascara und sleeve tattoo
Narcissists in 'youth small' clothing
...next Nirvana, where are you?

im not looking for a next Nirvana. though i think that last line is just a jab at the idiotic popular music industry always claiming everything as "the next..."

when i find the time, i will look at what i have of 1349's discography and see if i can pick out songs that i enjoy the most. then i will upload them.

1349's riffing can be disorganized, but for the most part it is linear and has purpose. they also do not incorporate any symphonic or "avante garde" influence as Emperor did.
