Commerce / Re: Velvet Cacoon Interview

While I will give them a point for achieving some sort of "ambience", it positively reeks of effort, not something that came naturally; an effort that needs external validation from, say....an internet community, to make it worthwhile.
In short, this band is trying too hard. I almost appreciate Dextronaut more now, as it isn't afflicted by the same HIV+ pretensions as this album is.

Sorry to drag this up again...
Just heard Genevieve:
it's the same damn song seven times in a row.
Oh sure, they may have altered the tempo and drum patterns here and there, but it doesn't change the fact that the entire album is a direct ripoff of the song Hvis Lyset Tar Oss.
What's everyone working themselves into a lather over this album for? It's already been done better, by better people. I don't care what novelty schtick they slap onto their self-image, but they really desperately need to work on saying something that actually needs saying, instead of rehashing the past.

No matter much I want to enjoy this band (even remotely) I still can't get into them at all.
Is it just the fault of Dextronaut, or what?

Vocals?
Until an artist comes along with a new conception of what metal should even be, let alone instrumentation, let alone composition, let alone ideological necessity for it's existence, vocals are a needless distraction.
The music can convey the impression of bleakness, desperation and torment far greater than what the contribution of some ninny screaming himself hoarse in some bad caricature of a banshee can add.
I'd give my left nut to see a great instrumental black metal band.

I will fourth the praise for Sorcier des Glaces.
(where are they from, by the way?)
Snowland has a great reliance on melodic structure to carry it, as opposed to brainless bashing and non-stop speed; I find some of the melodies to absolutely soar.
However, when in the mood for melodic black, Sacramentum's Far Away From the Sun gets my vote every time. That album is ethereal to me.

I think it's just the standard format that YaBB software comes equipped with to deal with profanity; most users who install this software are sensitive liberal faggots who cringe at loud noises in the dark. It probably just hasn't been dealt with yet, as it's such a relatively minor thing - but the comedy value is worth it, I agree.

"Has anyone else heard of this or head the material in question?"
Yes.
Anything produced post-2000.
