The DLA "scene": users' own compositions

we hope you die:
I seem to recall this being posted before so forgive me if this is the same topic, but I'm looking for people to post up any attempts at making your own music, metal or otherwise. I'm also interested in feedback on some experiments in black metal I did a couple of years ago.

Recorded using a keyboard and a little Marshall amp with the distortion and reverb way up (there are no guitars on this recording). I had a friend program the drums for me. Obviously the whole thing is primitive as fuck, but I wonder if anyone thinks it has potential.

Anyone else want to share their attempts?

The distorted keyboards seems a bit gimmicky, since you are essentially just using them where the guitars would be in black metal and not really changing anything else.  Still, you are obviously trying to do something different from what's been done so I think you should keep it up.  You should maybe lessen the distortion and use more layers of different melodies to make the music more complex.

Here's a composition of mine. Nothing profound or new, but I put as much emotion and energy as I can into it.

I didn't like this.  It seems like you're playing black metal just to say that you play black metal.  Attempt something "profound or new" next time.

Now I don't know if these are unique or transcendent, but at least I'm trying.  I'm making a concept album of the seven wonders of the ancient world, which is really close to being finished, and I'll post a link to a free download of it here when it is. So here are two completed songs for that:

Sepulchral Voice:

I recorded a demo a few years back that was released about a year later, this was the only song that I think is OKAY on it. The rest when I hear it is accidental "war" metal garbage, but this song stands out to me. I was going for a Profanatica/Beherit vibe. I play all instruments. There were supposed to be vocals, but I never recorded them.

mandrake:
This is an exercise with ambient sounds, in the first part (i realized after that it has a hint at Debussy, in my ears) and, in the second part it hints to one of Moriccone's soundtracks from the 80's... I must say i'm very new at this so any criticism is welcomed.

Cheers for the feedback. I recorded with keyboards because I can't play guitar basically. But I am going to embark on writing longer pieces with more complexity. I like your ambient stuff, reminds me of Summoning mixed with Dead Can Dance.
