You look almost normal. I'm bewildered.

I hesitate to ask what you expected.

So I've recorded a black metal demo
April 25, 2012, 11:42:07 PM
I call it a demo because it has no vocals, a drum machine and all the guitar parts were recorded with a pitch-shifted bass. Hugely influenced by Transilvanian Hunger although I didn't really notice that until after I had recorded it all.

I've posted this on a few other forums but I wanna hear any harsh criticism or thoughts from this site because this is where I found most of the music I listen to nowadays, cheers

It's very good!

Vocals would give a possibility of variation in the overall  texture of the demo. But the composition and the atmosphere are great.

Not only Transilvanian Hunger, but it has certain Hvis Lyset Tar Oss/Filosofem (Tomhet, Gebrechlichkeit II) vibe that ends being very pleasant.

I would avoid that tag "depressive black metal". Depressive black metal is, depressive.

I really suggest other users here to give a listen to the online songs in the provided link.

Honestly, I thought he was older.
There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us There's too many of us

Cheers, the compositional part for me comes pretty naturally, I don't think beforehand 'oh this could be the verse', I just let it flow

And yeah the tags were suggested to me by the website so I just chose them haha

I'm just fucking around Cargast, I had no expectations. Good video, makes me nostalgic for Iron Maiden shows in summer.

The Last Battle, a Wheel of Time inspired song, and a demo I am working on..

Excellent work, Cargest!

Wow, this is probably my favourite of all of your works.  The only thing I would say is that the material up until almost the three minute mark is perfect as "build up" material, and from that point you could have something of a narrative (i.e. pick a few good riffs which work sequentially [Immortal style] and get some vocals in there) before moving into the end section (from the almost Immolation-esque bit).

I always love your input! Much value to it! Of course this is going to reworked and vocals added at some point!

Awesome : )  Also, as an aside, the drumming and production are fantastic.

Nobody but the composers and a few others seem to check out this thread, because the DLA doesn't support its "scene".

Of the composers here, who thinks we need to come together to discuss our ideas more often?  As far as I see it, we barely discuss our motives/inspirations/technqiues, to any degree.

the DLA doesn't support its "scene".

It shouldn't.

Music should be picked for one characteristic alone: its quality.

There needs to be a relatively uniform process for picking that which is of quality.

If we form an ingroup, we become really annoying pretentious bastards.

If instead we treat all music fairly, we have a better chance of not behaving like pig-fuckers. (On Texas farms, the livestock are kept in the barn at night and the pigs just beyond it. By extension, the people who are least socially acceptable are the ones raping the pigs.)
