I can't, but I didn't know about Rites Of Darkness until I had already booked everything for MDF. I'll be at the fest. I usually wind up doing a roll call in the MDF thread which is somewhere in the news section.

MDF was good last year, this years lineup not so good. Last year was Sadistic Intent, Asphyx, Autopsy, The Chasm, that alone was awesome enough, dunno about this year, if I go I'm gonna beat the shit out of some trainhopping crusty scum, if there is an Anus grouping which I doubt will happen (I'd love to mean Prozak in person) there should be some bum beating involved

Anyway, the social context that creates trust fund crusties is somewhat interesting.  Seems related to the Russian literary concept of the Superfluous Man:

What goals does America popularize besides "make money"? The utility of money has diminishing returns (below a certain threshold that can be reached by private individuals). What happens when you've effectively reached the limit of whats worth earning?

If you're seriously going to suggest that these kids are doing something worthwhile with their time, you're misguided. I'm not poor, I grew up pretty well off, and I'm thankful for that. There's a lot more than 5, I've seen plenty of them.

I don't think making money should be the prime goal just because I'm an American. When I've reached my limit of earning, I'd spend it in wiser and less selfish ways than impersonating a hobo.

Whole lineup is garbage, except maybe Antaeus. Convulse get kvlt-points but their material is below average compositionally though aesthetically on-point (same deal with new material). Would see a "best-of" Dark Descent concert, not their upcoming showcase.

You are fortunate to live in an area where this plague is not commonplace. Many hipsters, "artists" and crusties are trust-fund babies. This is what happens when we make getting wealthy contingent on often (but not always) trivial things.
