Which mailing list are you on?

I'm on the Nihil mailing list, and now also on the "Team" mailing list.  Didn't realise that a separate list had been made for the DLA operation.

Excellent! If we had prizes, we'd be handing them out now.

If you are interested in joining our effort, go here and sign up:

http://lists.amerika.org/listinfo.cgi/team-amerika.org

Here's the thing:

1. DLA is a volunteer operation. That means we're sometimes fitting this stuff in around other stuff.

2. DLA is a concurrent volunteer obligation, e.g. much of our staff are also working on other issues.

3. There are many pieces to fall into place. Sometimes, certain pieces are contingent upon others happening FIRST. So what's going on with the DLA is that we have first fixed some technical issues, and second worked out some organizational issues, and now we're tackling site design and soon will begin the movement of content.

That's where we'll need volunteers; that and some related issues, including getting the word out.

We appreciate you and Spectrum signing up, and hope others will follow!

A suggestion here, too:

Don't listen to what the audience wants.

Make a good resource for people to use to understand this genre. That is what DLA has always done best. Do not pander. Write for the people who have the ability to care about this genre as part of history, not for itself by itself. The "isolationists" are what's killing metal.

I've always stood by: Write what you yourself would want to seek out and read. Do not deliberately obscure. Do not deliberately simplify. Neither audience is important. The work is important.
