A place for users to show their art

Art as a hobby is fine. Art as a career is useless.

Art is more than a hobby. I see it as a door to the spiritual. At least, good art should do that. What is bad to make art as a career? All of the greatest artists from the antiquity to the XIXe did art as a career. It's the capitalism, the lack of culture and spiritual drive who damaged the artistic world, not having a career out of it. Artists like bards, tragedians, were the ciment of ancient societies.

I would go as far as saying that we need more artists to go professional. But good ones. By doing so, there will be a chance where there's more great architecture, music, theater, movies, etc. By always remaining in the underground, the society will  always remain rotten.

NHA - care to describe your method of creating images like that? Very evocative, almost sensual imagery. I like it; would look great as part of a large mural.

Shading

Blending

Final stage: a bit of texturing, focus on smaller details, optimize contrast, make sure the eye isnt distracted by multiple focal points. I completely fucked the thumb up somehow.

Early stages were in corel painter, later stuff in photoshop.
