the difference is in exercise. Texas is very automobile dependent, mostly pickup. they use it to go to the mail box, and to pick up beer at the drive through liquor store(the only place where I have seen them). I'm not so sure about Minnesota, but I'm sure it is not nearly as pedestrian friendly as Munich. The geography and civil planing has a lot to do with the lack of exercise in this country.
