Generation "Next"

Re: Generation "Next"

I find one of the most decadent aspects of this generation is not the prevalence of morons, but rather, the sterilizing effect modern culture has on potentially effective people. As previously mentioned, technology fractures attention spans and makes people inert both physically and mentally, but worst of all, it seems like kids from affluent families are most susceptible because parents are caught up in their miserable careers and so they plug their kids into video games and the internet to keep them stimulated, not realizing how harmful it is in the long run.

Furthermore, disillusionment towards religion has essentially lain waste to the self-restraint inherent in Christianity, leaving only the skeleton of the religion's values (the virus of liberalism) in place, paving the way for hedonism. If America was still a Christian nation, I guarantee the decadency would not be as severe.

The notion that our generation is 'no different than any other' is a dangerous one.  You acknowledge that iPods and twitter are exacerbating the problem: things of that nature have produced a generation of many more human beings than previous generations in which it is becoming increasingly easier to tune out and fall into place somewhere in a crumbling society.  Our civilization is in decline, and those living within it cannot help but be affected by this.

I find one of the most decadent aspects of this generation is not the prevalence of morons, but rather, the sterilizing effect modern culture has on potentially effective people.

You say that this generation is worse, and I truly prefer that over the enthusiastic prophecies of hippie-webland. Although on a bright  side, we have marvelous resources in the Internet for the spiritually healthy dissident that were unreachable in the past (well, look in your address bar right now). Some kind of proportion is stable between people acting moronic or not in different historical sets, hehe.

I know, humans have always found a way to loss time, booze, drugs, vapid chat, card games. Now we have videogames and TV/Internet as an extension of old methods and in addition to them. Some people have creative jobs that are beneficial, but most have a job that pays the bills, including people here. In any case, family, and spare time are precious, choose what you do with it your free time: videogames or helping in a creative project, perhaps using current technologies, you can't do both of them at the same time, and time waits for no one.

Worst part of that statement is that even though the majority of GeNeXtr liberal Americans have lost the moral grasp that Christianity held on them, amidst all of the prevalent use of drugs, alcohol and other weak willed masturbatory activities they somehow believe they are all redeemable and will have lived duefully on earth and be granted entry to the heavens... I've asked around, friends and so forth who all state belief in God and follow some form of Christian ethic, Why they do it.. Getting hammered then blowing some guy or striving for the worst possible actions they can engage in... The most common answer: "Life is short, fuck it man" or "Gotta die somehow" Such a negative bunch of people, add that to the list of differences of other generations.. almost all are willing martyrs of our society.. still none of them chose to change, and inherit some kind of actual purpose.. since its simply too easy to wash dishes and flip burgers in life. Being negative all of the time draws attention your way, they all thrive on it.

We all know western civilization is at it's weakest and what not and having that in your brain is constraining enough let alone coming to the realization that we are all a part of it still.. to make some of us full of rage and shaking a fist at every person they see sending SMS messages while driving or buying a monster television, and trampling forestry for new, cheaply built condominiums.. focusing on the positive aspects of life is what is really important to us all... those that transcend modern behaviors, spending quality time with people of good will and character, exploring nature and the world around you and embracing it's essence...  I find its much more constructive to point out the logical fallacies of normal societal standards and ease those who do not follow into cohesion with positive reinforcement of ones own strength and intellect.. bridging the gap if you will... The only way to make any sort of change is to influence others of our actions and behavior, promote quality.. This site put that into perspective for me.. So I opted out of being a part of Generation Next. Its our job to try and steer us out of utter collapse, even though it's always just over the hill.. and it all seems at a loss already.

Identity is a social constrcut, whereas consciousness is not.

Most of our problems stem from those who celebrate the former and flee from the latter.

The value of Christianity, when understood, is that it does the opposite of this.  Somehow religion has become inverted, much like we see with contemporary death metal: it becomes more about adhering to a certain style in order to maintain one's personal identity.  Religion today doesn't strive so much to make good people, rather to make people look/ feel good in spite of all of their flaws.  Recognizing that we must fix these instead of covering them up is already a step in the right direction.

All I know is that most of the people growing up to be what one calls generation "Next" are going to be extremely easy to manipulate in the eyes of generation "Next" ' s authoriatrian regimes. Therefore, labeled "subhuman", and used as rights-depraved human-material in forced labor. The next generation will not have its saviors with tricolored flags.

Mister Y: Denying her virginity? On what evidence?
Mister X: Well, she was pregnant.

I don't think it's that apocalyptic.

Generations are made of individuals. Most of these people are of peasant stock, and in any generation, do what is useless. In fact, per the Dunning-Kruger effect, they think they're geniuses and do what is useless so they don't interrupt their own brilliance.

Generation Next, or X+3, because all generations post 1980 are apocalyptic "now we become Brazil" generations, will be more of the same -- slightly less informed, slightly less moral, slightly less alert -- except for the individuals in it who have a clue.

Those will go on, raise healthy families, and keep humanity going. The peasants will do what they always do: loaf unless forced to work, create landfill, have sex like monkeys and throw tantrums if anyone asks them to do anything productive.
