Alternatives to your bored lifestyle, if you think you have one.

Good guideposts:

1. Use the internet for specific purposes, like "I need to research this" only.
2. Your TV, radio and mainstream media are the same thing. Listen only to classical, throw out the TV, and read the Wall Street Journal
3. Most of your "friends" are parasites --- get rid of them
4. Most people you "date" are whores --- find someone with a clearer goal in life
5. If you only have a job, you are failing it. Become necessary.
6. Ignore your parents' advice
7. Ignore Hollywood's advice
8. Read the classics, especially the Greeks
9. Help out here at ANUS

If you can't do all of the above, you're an underman.

I agree largely with this, but I must inquire, why ignore your parents' advice? Surely, while I do not get along with my parents all the time I still respect them highly and think of them as people I could potentially learn from. (Granted I don't follow ALL of their advice either but my father is very worldly and hands on while my mother is very book smart)
No.

Having reviewed the thread, baby Jesus is most definitely weeping at this point.

2. Your TV, radio and mainstream media are the same thing. Listen only to jazz and punk, throw out the TV, and write journal entries.

4. Most people you "date" are whores --- find someone with a clearer goal in life
5. If you only have a job, you are failing it. Become necessary. Get involved musically.
6. Ignore your parents' advice, they probably raped you.
7. Ignore Hollywood's advice, but do a show on IFC.
8. Read the classics, especially Camus.
9. Give "spoken words" shows

If you can't do all of the above, you're an underman.
Because I am more intelligent than you are.

Not every parent is accomplished or wise, and it doesn't take a genius (youth)  to see this.

True, but I do not see the point ignoring a parent's advice if they ARE wise and can provide assistance to you.

9. Help out here at ANUS

Or more generally speaking, help out wherever people are working on projects or movements you find virtuous or at the very least, experiments worthy of being carried out.

Even a bit of help which won't tie you up for days or weeks or years can make a positive difference and the indirect benefit you get from the contacts, experience and joy of doing easily pay for your troubles.

Just get in touch, ask where you could contribute and you will have miraculously generated a bit of happiness into the world!

My Tv is on about maybe 40% of the time or not even, which is not too frequent. It irritates me much, except watching movies on On Demand where it isn't interrupted by aggravating infomercials. The biggest problem with television is the excessive use of advertising, practically everywhere anyhow and meaningless reality shows. I don't know how people can just sit there effortlessly and watch that shit, rots your mind entirely. I agree though, I rather read something in a book or periodical than be ambushed by repetitive advertisements and all the while, educating myself at the same time.

Classical music is beneficial to listen to on the local radio too, they play quite a bit of universally and well known composers/peices. Also, exposing you to a variety of stuff that you have possibly never even heard of.

TV bombardes you with constant propaganda, be it adds or the shows themselves (enforcing garbage ideas like tollerance, progress, contentment with mediocrity ect...). Movies are usualy better quality, but ill only watch them if im lifting weights, other wise its just wasting time. Even something moronic yet entertaining is o.k if your building muscle mass in the process.

True, but I do not see the point ignoring a parent's advice if they ARE wise and can provide assistance to you.

In that 1% of cases, pay attention to them -- but only where they know what they're talking about. Obvious, isn't it? I would think so, but maybe not for others who are conditioned to linear thinking.
