Cirith Ungol Release New Song

Cirth Ungol have awoken from a twenty nine year slumber to preview the song “Legions Arise” from their new album Forever Black set to be released on Metal Blade on the 24th of April. The band ended on a sour note with Paradise Lost and the revival is sounding even worse. The vocals have been toned and layered to sound more conventional. Guitars stick to a few simple riffs and some arpeggios. The song is lackluster and has none of the passion or energy that the band once had. Metal Blade have been very good at killing old bands recently. It’s incredible how well Angel Witch survived this. If this is what the band have to offer, the album is set to be a very dull affair.

vomitory is fucking dreck and there is absolutely no need to tolerate them as better alternatives exist

          examples:
          Bjork
          tame impala
          in flames
          bladee
          godsmack
          dark funeral

          1. homotextual says:

            whats the alternative to you

That Cirith Ungol “Legions Arise” is ok, but it sounds more like the 1980s/early 90s power metal/sword & sorcery heavy metal bands they inspired.
I know, some will laugh, but, to me, they are copying the bands that copied them!

Angel Witch at one point did not even sound like themselves, and old fans had to keep urging Kevin Heybourne to return to the what the original fans wanted/expected.
So, is “survived” the appropriate word here for them?

    1. The riffing was so bland. Cirith Ungol even during their weaker moments could never be described as bland. Angel Witch have wanted to sell out since the debut “Free Man” “Sweet Danger”. Eventually they found the right way.
