Darkthrone members participate in Saga, a film about Viking biker zombies

saga-a_black_metal_viking_film_with_zombiesNocturno Culto’s next project has been announced…and it may not be what you’re expecting. The legendary musician has decided to try his hand at acting, playing the lead role in photographer Jørn Steen‘s first attempt at movie production, with a decidedly unorthodox plot:

Ted “Nocturno Culto” Skjellum team(s) up with writer, producer, director and photographer Jorn Steen to make this future cult movie about a Metalmusic videodirector, Culto, who escalades to making a feature Viking-movie based upon the northern classic Eyrbyggja Saga. Actually a zombie story, the film picks up when a dead Viking breaks out of his tomb and terrorizes the locals. Culto rides a Moto Guzzi, and he gets his Biker friends to help him as extras in this Metafilm about making a Viking-feature.”

As may be expected, the film is not going to have the support of Hollywood studios, so the crew has decided to turn to the community for help in making this underground movie. Their goal is to raise 40,000€ before shooting begins in June. Those interested can visit the site for more information.

Can we expect a review on Forebears? At least this is a breath of fresh air when compared to all those documentaries or something like Tom G. Warrior’s book. I mean is that guy bipolar? He’s embarrassed over Hellhammer, makes goth, likes glam, likes Nine Inch Nails, and now after becoming aware of how the underground community revers him, decides to make a goth version of Morbid Tales covered by Roots era Sepultura. I can also detect revisionism in the upcoming Max Cavalera (who now shamelessly parades around with pink dreadlocks while wearing Bathory shirts) book: “no, we were experimenting with modern stuff and… uh… Obituary grooves too man, like The Deftones, not Korn! We are who we are!”… Well, at the very least this will be more exciting than hearing about Gaahl and King ov Hell’s life philosophies…

Triptykon in a nutshell. He has come to terms with Hellhammer though and released another book about those years. I recommend it.

Is it me or are we over here at metal elite HQ starting to sound like a bunch of gossiping aunts, judging our old heroes’ every move in life?

If their new albums suck (which they often do) we could just diss them and move the fuck on as opposed to being little bitches about it and about everything they do.

I for one am at least curious about this. I don’t really believe in a underground “code” pertaining to things non-musical so let him do whatever the fuck he wants.

Cheers to that guy who keeps posting Pegazus though. That band is sick.
