Darkthrone
Under A Funeral Moon
[Modern Invasion]

Darkthrone truly are the greatest black metal band of all time. No band will ever top them (although Graveland and Vlad Tepes come close) in terms of pure and total hatred, sorrow, cold sounding riffs, and simply godlike black metal. "Under a Funeral Moon" is my second favorite (although during certain moods it's my favorite) Darkthrone release. Some of the songs (especially "Under a Funeral Moon", "Natassja In Eternal Sleep", and "Unholy Black Metal"...well actually all of the songs are great, but those one's stand out) surpass being just "black-metal" and become "blacker-metal" (ermmhh :P). Production on this album, although not as sloppy as "Transilvanian Hunger" is very low key and "plastic" sounding...none of the instrument's have that thickness displayed on "A Blaze...". But still, this works perfectly for the music, and makes it sound so very evil. And as I just mentioned, where as "A Blaze..." was ground-breaking, TH cold sounding, and Panzerfaust hate filled, "UaFM" has an evil and at times depressive feel to it. Vocals are as quality as ever...Darkthrone are the greatest black metal band, ever, period, blah blah blah.
