Demonic
Lead Us Into Darkness
[Necropolis]

This is the re-release of Demonic's Nar Morket Faller demo from '94 I believe, plus a bonus track to make it lengthy enough to be a mCD (it runs for 15 minutes). For the most part, although a tad bit generic (bet you couldn't guess! After all, they don't have the most original name) this release is by all means worth tracking down. For the most part straight forward, traditional sounding Norwegian black metal (and that's a good thing!!), Demonic also spice up the music with some fine keyboard sections, and because of that, the music has an eerie, morbid sound to it at times. Take the song "Spell of the Witchdemon" for example. It sounds like a fairly simple, fast, and frosty sounding black metal track. Mid-way through the song though, a smooth synth sound finds it's way over the music, giving the song a unique sound (and thus, give Demonic their own original sound). Then there's the new track, "His Eyes Burn Hate". Faster than the other material, this song also rages it's way through a few minutes of basic (yet fairly interesting) black metal. Suddenly, the music cuts off completely, and a lovely sounding (and fairly chilling yet at the same time depressive) synth riff kicks it. Very tasteful, and because of that, it gives the music a unique feel. I'm really looking forward to getting the upcoming full-length from this pair, mainly because after owning this disc for more than two years, it still provided some listening pleasure every so often.
