This would be the first Murder Rape CD, before the band switched over to their own label, Evil Horde. Murder Rape are a fairly original and wonderfully evil band, as their music drips with grim atmosphere and contains an aura of technical hatred. This lot understand how to play their instruments, and proficiently use this knowledge to convey their emotions, and the general feeling of the album. Guitar solos can be found, quality drumming, excellent production, and impressive usage of synth/keys.

This is for sure Satanic black metal, done with a modern flair. The music is generally quite atmospheric in a dark way, yet at times depressing or even blatantly evil sounding. There's also a few moments on the disc where the bands heavy metal roots come into play, as some of their solos and riffs have a very early/Iron Maiden/metal feel to them. It's all really nicely done, and they get their point across nicely: THIS IS BLACK METAL IN HONOUR OF SATAN!!!

Besides the monstrous vocals, impressive usage of instruments, and evil aura, the band also contribute an amazing instruments track. This track is alone worth the price of the CD, since it's really quite interesting to hear, and the technical ability displayed here is also quite darkly pleasant.

Overall a fantastic CD. I still have yet to get a hold on their follow up to this, but be certain that you shall see a review of it in the near future, since Murder Rape are an excellent addition to any metal collection. And if by chance anyone in contact with them sees this: What happened to the Goatpenis CD that was to be released on Evil Horde?
