Cryptopsy
Whisper Supremacy
[Century Media]

"Whisper Supremacy" in three words: A massive disappointment. Before listening to the CD, I noticed that the packaging was simply awful. It was nowhere near as interesting as say, "None So Vile". I also noticed that the band were really trying hard to look 'normal'. They didn't look like fucking metal-heads at all! Rather, they looked like a handful of New York area hardcore-turned brutal death metal bands. Are they doing this to please their label?

I immediately realized that everything here is still very well produced, and VERY tight. Everything from the superb sounding guitars, to Mr. Flo's drumming are meticulously recorded and transferred to CD. This is still a very brutal band!

Ah, but no more Mr. Worm! I don't want to sound like a bugger, but Cryptopsy appears to have been no less than Lord Worm's band! The new vocalist makes the music sound dry, stale, and boring. There's still a certain Cryptopsy style flair to everything, such as in the wild bass lines, unique drumming, and quickly picked riffs…. hey, I've just summed up the music! Simply put, the new vocalist is fucking awful, and I can't manage to listen to the record for more than a few minutes because of him.

Apparently Lord Worm is working on a black metal project. That should be interesting no doubt. As far as I am concerned though, until the band find a vocalist who comes even somewhat within the realms of uniqueness, they are as good as DEAD.
