Abstract streams of chords with seemingly chaotic but brilliantly dead and mechanical modality override blasting drums and subsonic vocals to produce dissonance evoking displacement, mutation, and fear. Incantation make simple contrapuntal ideas (in the style of McEntee's band Havohej) into a rotation of themes translating to the riffs and transitions of eccentric death metal. Abrupt and bassy bowel roar gives lyrics a voice over organic drumming and avalanche guitar. Adding melodic playing within a layer of rushing chords and surprisingly memorable doom metal dirges, Incantation make their second great triumph seven years after their first.
