Funeral Mist
Devilry
[Shadow]

The first time I heard of Funeral Mist was when I saw them live back in early 1995. They played as a supporting act for Dark Funeral in Stockholm, Sweden. The gig was in a youth centre, and I really don't think the owners knew what they where getting into when they agreed to put up a black metal gig. At the end of their set, Funeral Mist had a few friends running up on stage with a couple of buckets of pigs blood, throwing it right into the audience. To this day I still remember the utterly hilarious sight of crying fourteen-year olds running towards the bathroom to clean themselves up, and not to forget the youth centre employees who where in a state of shock. This almost resulted in the rest of the gig being cancelled, but after immense persuasion and threats of rioting this did not happen.

Today, only bassplayer Arioch is left from that line up, as he kicked out the rest of the members after the first demo "Darkness", when Typhos left for Dark Funeral. Arioch now handles vocals, guitar and bass, and Necromorbus plays drums. After the killer demo "Havoc", this duo brings forth this piece of divine violence in form of a mCD. Five songs of violent and demonic black metal with some of the best fucking vocals I have heard in ages. Arioch is most definatly, besides one of the most violent persons I have ever met, among the best vocalists in the scene today. Three new songs and two old ones, one from the first demo and the song "Nightside Phantoms" from the second demo. The music sounds somewhat similar to Marduk, only rawer, uglier and with different vocals.

I believe Funeral Mist will later on record a full length CD for Shadow Records. With all the weak and pathetic bands coming out of Sweden today, this is truly something to look forward too.
