Morbid Angel
Altars Of Madness
[Earache]

Their first LP released in '89. This is a pure death metal album filled with satanic lyrics, brutal music and a lot of guitars solo's, yet for it's time (and still) it is very original. It has a kind of an old school sound, David Vincent's vocals aren't as deep as later but still good. Excellent guitar work from Azagthoth and Brunelle, very creative, at sometimes unleashed brutality and speed, and sometimes cool mid tempo parts, all that accompanied with great solos. The production here is o.k., no complaints from me. This is a great debut, very promising - this album has became an important milestone to the metal scene and in my opinion is in the status of a real classic. Note - on the CD there are 4 bonus tracks that don't appear on the original tape.
