Celtic Frost
Morbid Tales
[Noise]

While I try to review this CD I must say that it will be hard to translate in words how awesome this CD is. I will fail so spare me your scorn. For those unfamiliar (either too young or living under a rock), Celtic Frost was created after the demise of the infamous Hellhammer (GODS!!!). The band went on to become a grand inspiration to future black metal bands and has just as much clout as Venom and Bathory in terms of this particular genre. Basically the title of this CD perfectly describes the musical idea and path of this band. It has almost a punkified metal approach to Black Sabbath. There are moments of speed but for the most part alternates in terms of velocity. Not ever one of the world's greatest technical bands but they were certainly known and easily recognizable for their sound. The sound was almost malignant in nature, almost out of tune. The guitar was almost reluctant to adhere to the playing style of Tom Warrior and seems to emit a tortured sound. Though they were handcuffed in terms of technical ability their vision was unsurpassed. Lots of classic songs on this disc such as 'Into Crypt Of Rays', 'Procreation Of The Wicked', 'Return To The Eve' and 'Nocturnal Fear'. This album means a lot to great many of us out there about a special time. A CD that no metalhead should be without.
