Wind Of The Black Mountains
Sing Thou Unholy Servants
[Moribund]
This is, by far, one of the best black metal albums of the year. With a harsh
spoken introduction, "Forcefed into Blasphemy" begins. Stringed instruments
of the damned play on as drums pound out their Satanic cadence and buzz-saw
guitars ebb and flow in a trance-like drone, sometimes galloping, sometimes
racing. Minimal keyboards join the chaos, sounding off-key at first, but
meshing flawlessly. Razing screams and guttural belches spew forth from the
very pits of Hell to coat the music in a disgusting mucus of sin. Every so
often, a sad melody floats to the top of this boiling cauldron of hatred. And
a few times, the music takes on a thrashy edge, reminiscent of Blood, Fire,
Death-era Bathory. This is the majesty of Wind of the Black Mountains.
