I have this album since a few weeks, and after MANY hours of listening I'm still amazed. This album has everything I want in a black metal release : a cold, hateful, dark & extreme piece of music.

Gorgoroth isn't original : it is, mostly, some Darkthrone (UNDER A FUNERAL MOON!) played faster and in a more melodic way, with some MayheM influences, maybe more thrashy. The drumming is more brutal, but less original than Fenriz's. About the vox, it is totally impossible to know what the singer sings about : his voice is very high, overexcited, almost hysterical and at some moments it can be a bit annoying... Some says that it's like Donald Duck on vocals, and I totally disagree... his vocals add a malefic and original dimension to the music. The production on Pentagram isn't raw, but it is obscure like on MayheM's "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas".

To add to the dark atmosphere of this album, some subtle "funeral" bell sounds has been added to fill the silences between the songs... great!

Conclusion:
This is an essential album if you like Darkthrone-like black metal, but more melodic. Sadly, there are no lyrics in the booklet.
