A boring album in my opinion, totally bagging, one that the band themselves exclude from being a true Darkthrone release. The sound of 'Soulside Journey' was clearly that of it's time. The Skogsberg/Entombed sound of death metal was flourishing at the moment and Darkthrone at that time with this offering were very much a part of that scene. There was nothing really distinct about the style and overall there were very few inspired moments present on their first CD. 'Cromlech' is a good track with a fine menacing riff but everything that follows this songs sounds quite wankerous. Wow!!! What fucking boredom I'm experiencing!!! There is nothing here that would led one to believe that this band would achieve much deserved legendary status in the black metal field. Darkthrone labour through long winded dull tracks that spark no interest whatsoever in the listener and don't give me that bullshit that I'm off my rocker in saying such things. Who actually listens to CD over any of their other releases in their catalog? What's that I hear? Silence. Thought so. Fuck this I'm selling this piece of shit, I can no longer have this amongst my distinguished CD collection.
