Sargatanas
The Enlightenment
[Conquistador]

"The Enlightenment" is bound to freak a bunch of the other guys at LARM! out, and because of that, I hope to see a few more people reviewing it, and thus recommending it. FUCKING HELL this album is heavy! It sounds like it was recorded at the deepest pit in Hell by an army of seriously pissed off Demons, led by SATAN himself!

You can hear the early Slayer, Possessed, Morbid Angel, etc. influences, all naturally translated into modern metal here, and there's even a cover of "Satan's Curse" (which RIPS!)! The band up the crushing brutality factor by ten though, adding the harshest vocals, most insane drum patterns, and the DIRTIEST, RAWEST guitar riffs ever! The sickly distorted harmonics in "The Proclamation"! The high kit build up in "Ritual of the Advent"! The RAW vocals from the abyss! Oh this really is a special metal album...

Regardless, Sargantanas have produced one of the finest odes to evil in years. I no longer mourn Abhorer's disappearance from the scene, since "The Enlightenment" is bounds and leaps ahead of them. How many albums can make a persons hair stand up on their neck, or make them actually visually pure evil? Warriors of metal will NOT be disappointed with this masterpiece!
