Comments :

"Nightwing" is the 8th album (I include here their demos, live albums and mini CDs) made by the Swedish BM band Marduk. This band has some influence over Dark Funeral, notably at the lyrical level (very satanic) and the violence of the music. However, on Nightwing, they slow the thing a little bit and the album is divided in two Chapters : the first one, named "Dictionnaire Infernal" is in the vein of Marduk's precedent compositions : brutal, hateful satanic black metal. The music very simple but devastating.

The second chapter is about the life of Vlad Dracul (not the classical vampire, but the historical character) and the rhythm slows down a bit : the music becomes more morbid (I find it closer to Death Metal), and it fits really well with the lyrics (they are very bloody, but they don't fall into the usual boring gore lyrics).

Well, to make a long story short, the music on Nightwing is slower than on Heaven Shall Burn, again it's very simple but the sound is much better (richer) and the bass is more present. Marduk has always been a boring band, playing monotonous and simple music. It is the same here, but this album is more diversified than the others, so more interesting. I still give a listen, sometimes...
