Mystic Circle
Infernal Satanic Verses
[]
Completely ignoring what the band looks like or the 'interesting' linear
notes by their names, Mystic Circle play a mixture of
melodic/unrelenting metal with symphonic keyboards, Ancient/Cradle Of
Filth-ish female vocals, and harsh rasps leading the chaos.
A great musical progression from their last two
releases, settling even more into a style of their own and the mixing of
straight-forward guitar work mixed with the melodic arrangements and
symphonic keyboards is done much better here than can be found in their
past works. The female vocalist doesn't add much, except during the
intro, the Omen-esqe chanting should be the extent of her use on this
album, instead she is thrown in periodically with little effect and
reminding me of too many others that sound almost exactly like her in
the metal scene.
In short, don't expect Dark Throne, but don't expect Dimmu Borgir
either, an odd in between band hated more for their proclamations of
being 'German Black Metal' then their actual music.
