Triumphator
Wings of Antichrist
[Necropolis]

After one '96 promo and one EP (also put on MCD) Swedish Triumphator now present their debut full length, eight tracks of the same sort of black violence metal that was found on the "The ultimate sacrifice" EP. Both songs from "The ultimate sacrifice" ("Redeemer of chaos" and "Heralds of pestilence") are present here, rerecorded of course.

Regarding the music, I would say that speed and force are the two key words here. The same kind of twisted guitar solos that where on the EP are here too, but I don't really think they give the songs the same kind of sick and morbid touch that they did with the mentioned EP. I guess this is mainly due to the more powerful and thick production, after all this was recorded in the Abyss while the previous EP was recorded in Necromorbus studios.

Music wise Triumphator are somewhat comparable to Marduk, perhaps mostly due to the song structure and drumming. Lightning speed with very few breaks and tempo variation and almost no double bass drumming (bare in mind that the drummer is in fact Fredrik Andersson of Marduk). Triumphator are in no way a Marduk rip-off though, riffing is quite different and the vocals are totally unlike Legions, the Marduk singer.

Vocal duty is performed by Arioch of Funeral Mist, something that is quite apparent if you're familiar to his previous work. Varying between diabolical growls, rasps and insane shrieking they really provide the music a special touch.

Those of you who appreciate fast and violent Black Metal should definitely check out "Wings of Antichrist" as it is of considerable quality.
