Rozz Williams
The Whorse's Mouth
[Hollows Hill]

Williams' spoken word album. This is a difficult work of a rather limited appeal, and some people will be quick to dismiss it as some intellectual mumbo-jumbo. Well, that's one way of looking at it. The other way is to look at it as an avant-garde performance art. Williams' daedal lyrics are both explicit and surreal, representing his unique perspective on the dark realms of human nature and his own heroin addiction. The musical accompaniment varies from violins, samples and layered electronics to a piano or keyboard, all of which strongly complement the long narratives, enhancing their efficacy and turning this work into an involving listening experience. I must admit that this album doesn't fit well at all in the context of a metal web-page. To your average, juvenile Cannibal Corpse or Dimmu Borgir fan, it will be as alien as a quantum-physics problem, but who cares. This is a dainty, fastidious work from the ever-prolific, ever-divergent Williams, created prior to his untimely departure.
