Scheitan
Berzerk 2000
[Invasion]

This band's first disc was somewhat original, fast black metal. The first part of this disc has put a foot into Tiamat/Carcass territory and gone a bit rocky. The vocals are still raspy, but the composition is a bit too "normal" to be called black metal. About the 3rd song, they remind a little of Hypocrisy with their chord choices and guitar tone, and they become a bit more metal. Female vocals are featured on 2 tracks and are done competently without sounding out of place. The lyrics are varied and move away from black metal fare. Track 6 is loops of the two members growling and screeching or whatever . . kinda dumb. The final 3 tracks see Scheitan return to a fast black/death/thrash metal romp. This disc represents a change, and a not an entirely bad change. My first impressions were of nausea, but the first song is made up for by some original compositions. Not totally black metal anymore, but Scheitan don't seem to be following any overt trends, but we'll see how they do with their major label (Century Media) debut.
