Maceration
A Serenade Of Agony
[Progress Red Labels]

Being a somewhat obscure death metal project from the early nineties, this project band comprised of Jacob Hansen who played guitar in Invocator from the start till their demise, and he actually handles the drum work on this album, as well as lead guitar and backing vocals, we also find an early member in Invocator namely Jacob Schultz, who was in Invocator back in their demo days, he handles bass and also lead guitar, and then to complete the band as such, we have a guitarist named Lars Bangholt, who is infamous... for nothing, but wait I can hear you asking... now who handles the lead vocals then? Well that would be the notorious Day Disyraah from the cult of Ragonshinaaah, otherwise known in the mortal realm as Dan Swanö, but he functioned only in a session member capacity (if a project band can have a session member that is). But enough of the band's background. The music is killer death metal, which can quite easily be compared to Edge Of Sanity of that period, but it never reverts to being a clone band, but more a band which only purpose was to make killer death metal, of the same brand Edge Of Sanity made. I can only say if you can dig out this gem, it is surely worth spending a bit of cash on, as this is a severely over looked album, and most surely one of the better death metal releases to ever have been forged in Denmark, but as it never got much attention, I doubt many copies has been pressed of this album, and therefor it might be hard to come by.
