Agatus
Dawn of Martyrdom
[No Colours/Bootleg]

I doubt the Agatus lads are all that happy with No Colours. Personally, I've never seen anything BUT the bootleg version of this album. The Difference? The bootleg cover work is in black and white, and also has numerous bonus tracks from the 'Night of the Dark Ages' demo '93 and a promo track from '93. With that in mind, it's hardly a surprise that the bootleg version is stocked everywhere…

Agatus take the Greek style of black metal, add evolved and original vocals, and dunk all of that into a massive medieval atmosphere. Is it any surprise that this band is loved by so many? With so many bands trying to add an ancient, unique pagan style feel to their music, and Agatus surely succeeding in the finest way, why wouldn't they be considered legendary?

GRIM as night vocals, incredible guitar riffs, often done clean as to sound like a heathen metal band is playing in an ancient castles court - and the best of atmosphere. Melancholy ('Circling around the fire of the Woods II'), brutality ("Force of Desecration"), or the truly epic ("Freezing Wind of Winter"), "Dawn of Martyrdom" does it all in it's unique way.
