The Chasm
DeathCult for Eternity: The Triumph
[OZ]

Mexico really have a filthy, truly pure metal bunching of bands and individuals. Just look at the band members here! Metal monsters indeed! And the metal is just as brutal!

Imagine a cross between early Swedish death, some Mercyful Fate, and an old death metal feel like (fast) Autopsy. A better way to summarize "Deathcult" would be by stating that the band manage to possess the speed and melodic intensity of early Slayer, combining those feelings with the ripping feel of early Morbid Angel (at their most intense). Daniel. L, who's helped with Cenopath and Incantation in the past, holds a more old-school death/black metal sound in his vocals (maybe an old Morbid Angel influence again?) and riffs. He SCREAMS each word out, which is fitting, as his pain drenched vocals sit on top of the avalanche of high speed, crushing metal.

My favorite tracks would have to be "Apocalypse" and "The Triumph (of my loss)" with their huge bass feel, and riffs that conjure up feelings of hopelessness and anger. The production is really fitting as well. It's not your generic death metal production. Rather, it's dirty and gross sounding, great!

While constantly possessing a gloomy atmosphere, "Deathcult" is still an amazing and twisted PURE metal record. High, high recommendations!
