Ah, Elysian Fields…like wandering through a field of shit, or walking a mile with a rock in your shoe. The band is Greek of course, and even though the album was recorded at Storm Studio, it doesn't sound like it. The production is fine…but the music isn't.
I just don't like metal like this, period. It's far too gothic tinged, has way too many keyboards, and the plastic drum production gets on my nerves. Much like a Greek Moonspell, Elysian Fields reek of homosexuality. The vocals are decent: sharp and to the point. But the music leaves much to be desired.
Greek black metal either works or doesn't. This doesn't, and I've thus covered it with feta cheese and olives, and thrown it onto the street to fend for itself.
