Autumn Tears
Absolution
[Dark Symphonies]
Ted and friends give us some dark gothic music that the true metal heathen
should avoid, because there is no metal at all in this. What Autumn Tears
does offer is emotionally varied keyboard and vocal compositions that rarely
fail to entertain this fan of gothic-ish and doomish music in general.
Actually, Absolution is a little more straightforward and "song-like" than
previous efforts, making it a bit more palatable, not necessarily better
mind you, but also not necessarily worse. Plus, I'm a sucker for female
vocalists and AT delivers in that department with two broads (plus the
occasional harmony from Ted). The trollops trade off vocal parts, and
they're both good. Sometimes they could be just a tad bit less flat - as if
they are just hair off - but no big deal because it happens very rarely. To
sum up, I'm not familiar with this genre of music, so I'm not sure whom to
compare them to, or if that's even possible. I dig stuff like Die
Verbannten Kinder Evas, Weltenbrand, most Cold Meat stuff, and I dig Autumn
Tears. That doesn't help much, I know, but lick me.
(Note: the sarcasm is easily lost in this medium - the "broads" and
"trollops" thing is just a joke. I love and respect my wife, sister and
mother (touching, isn't it (no pun intended)). And no, I'm not overly
inbred . . just a little bit)
