Menhir
Die Ewigen Steine
[Ars Metalli]

This full-length release is much more metal than their almost purely heathen folk debut EP, Buchonia. The songs are based in metal with distorted guitars, pounding drums, but are overtly folky and majestic in nature. They sometimes have the pace and vocals of black or death metal, but the riffs never sound sinister. The clean vocals could be delivered with a bit more confidence, but they aren't horrible. Keyboards are present, but they are not main rhythmic instruments and only add the occasional background melody. The songs are interesting. They sound like they were worked on for a while, and if that is all a band can do, then I say give 'em at least a "B" for effort.
