Abigor
Apokalypse
[Napalm]

ABIGOR did not quite reach the astral fervor of ”Opus IV” with this short mCD release, but they almost did.

For the listeners who heard the Norwegian all-star projekt ZYKLON-B’s mCD this might give deja-vu – fast fast fast songs incorporating death metal riffing for maximal violence, vocals tending towards harsh fascistic shouting.

The occultistic aspect hasn’t been lyrically lessened in here (even if there are rip-offs from Gothenburg bands again like there was on ”Nachthymnen”!) but sound-wise it feels more worldly than ”Opus IV” did. This is misanthropic and most of the time sounds like it was giving more attention to be pissed off than being satanic and evil.

Also Australian bands like NAZXUL come to mind from the speed and hatred. You can hear ABIGOR’s technical playing skills in here, but also that the mCD was recorded in just a few days and they aren’t concentrating on putting any ”skill in display” here, it’s more about total mayhem. With the production they have tried something that envelopes like the whirlwind, but it ends up being a bit too unnecessarily bland and dusty, just like second part of ”Opus IV” – you have to play this at very loud volumes for the right effect.
