Club Mondo Bizarre
[Nuclear Blast]

These Austrian freaks' music is, in a way, bizarre, although, not as bizarre as their sexual practices (see the partially censored pictures in the inlay). But no matter, because it is quite good. "Club Mondo Bizarre" gives us an hour worth of sadomasochistic, groove-based death metal injected (especially during the solos) with doses of traditional, bluesy hard rock. Because of that, I presume that these guys are not for every death metal fan's taste. You won't find any blast-beats or fast tempos in their music, and the vocals are fairly decipherable. In addition, they don't take themselves too seriously, and are not afraid to get funky at times ("Klyster Boogie"). But that's exactly what makes them different. Even the lyrics are not completely negative. All of them, of course, focus on various perversities, but on "Rape - Pagar Con La Misma Moneda" the band take a stand against rape (in their own nasty way, that is), and present us with a bloody ditty about a rape victim getting revenge on her assailant by cutting off his, ahem, prized member and stuffing it down his throat. Ummm, tasty.
