Summon
Baptized by Fire
[Baphomet]

I'm quite certain I would have spent the rest of my life in a coma if it weren't for Summon. After listening to the Thornspawn disc that I ordered along with this, I really needed something to slap me upside my head and wake me up. Summon are the espresso of black metal! FUCK they simply rip at unthinkable speeds! The guitars are rather amazing as well, as they manage to come up with catchy riffs that just REEK of true metal, from the Slayer style riffing on "Burning Black Desires", to the more modern black metal fueling of "Eve of Anti-Creation".

While it's true that a healthy percentage of the tracks here are simply re-recorded from their first album, the intensity of the disc will please one and all. Solos aplenty to boot, and the vocals are as venomous and all-out nasty as ever. "Realm of No Return..." takes a more melodic metal path, while experimenting with some impressive guitar soloing.

A perfect companion to Sacramentary Abolishment's "River of Corticone" disc, as both are intense and musically take the best parts of death metal and turn them black.
