Unholy
From the Shadows
[Lethal]

The first digital strike from one of the most disturbing bands ever. I remember hearing the demo quite some time before this, and hating it so very much, especially in the vocal department. Despite the fact that some demo tracks are here, 'From the Shadows' is a disc to be appreciated.

The opening track, "Alone" moves in between a heavy doom/death onslaught, and what Skepticism has become known for over the years: drawn out keyboard bits that of course invoke nothing less then depression. The vocals work nicely with the music as well, changing from a deep and throat heavy roar to a more blackened rasp.

Of course, Unholy stands for being disturbing, and that's exactly what they are. In a much more straightforward sense then more modern bands like Bethlehem have gone for at that.

It was sort of sad in many a way hearing stories about the band around 1994 (did that change?). They are legends, and I do believe most of that has been cleared up, but I won't bother commenting on it.
