Dissection
Final Genocide
[Fringe]

This is the old Canadian death/thrash metal band, not the modern Swedish legend. Most people tend to enjoy this band in a cynical, if not sarcastic sort of way. Their demo had a giant nazi sea creature devouring the earth, while the cover photo here is that of a 'mad doctor' performing a 'chainsaw slaughter' on a police officer. The brilliant song titles, ranging from 'Minotaur the Emperor' to 'Eat Shit Get Away' and 'Fuck Off' probably don't add much credibility...

But the music is far better then one would expect! Over the top melodic, ranging from Slayer to even mid-period Iron Maiden influenced. In contrast to fellow Canadians Slaughter, there's a nice sense of equilibrium going on here, as the Venom/Celtic Frost influence on 'Strappado' is the total opposite of the tight and melodic styling here.

Vocals are proto-death, swastikas are everywhere (although some of the members don't quite look all that white), and Voivod shirts are worn with pride. _Obscure_ and unique early death metal, obviously.
