Ok first of all I have often seen this called black metal which it by far is not, but rather some very good viking/folk metal stuff, and it can really make the past come alive. One can nearly hear the horns sounding off the heroes return from a raiding trip, feel the anticipation of the upcoming feast to celebrate their return, the pride for those that fell in battle gloriously and have been taken by the valkyries to their grace in Valhalla. Also a strong longing for older and simpler times, a long lost age where life might have been hard but not as cluttered with sickening morals and ethics, and finally it also portrays sad form of anger of that these times are no more, these are all things that a good viking metal album make so get, get, get.
