Judas Iscariot
Distant In Solitary Night
[Moribund]

This band prooves my theory that Germany and the U.S. are quite similar in terms of black metal. Both countries have a shitload of bands that are taking black metal as some joke, and on the other hand, both countries have some of the most extreme acts in the genre today.

JUDAS ISCARIOT falls into the latter category. Hailing from the U.S., Akhenaten (the mastermind behind JI) has created an opus that can be only described as evil, unholy black metal. "Distant in Solitary Night" brings forth a level of grimness that only bands such as DARKTHRONE, GRAVELAND, BURZUM, NARGAROTH, CARPATHIAN FOREST and the likes have managed to achieve so far.

From the first song "The Wind Stands Silent", you know you're in for a grim voyage into the realms of darkness, hate and misanthropy. These 3 words describe pretty much the essence behind JI.

The music itself reminds me of DARKTHRONE and certainly creates the same ungodly atmosphere of coldness.

"Black Clouds Roll Under the Parapet of the Sky", "In The Bliss of Eternal Valleys of Hate" ...these are few other songs that will remind you that real black metal is still alive and JI is certainly a fist in the face of all cliches! Uncompromising unholy black metal.

Dark Art for Black Souls it is!

Highly recommended if you can relate to bands such as GRAVELAND, DARKTHRONE & BURZUM.

Certainly not for everyone.
