Ulver
Nattens Madrigal
[Century Media]

I'm not going to go into the whole thing about how Ulver conned Century Media while putting out this album (its nicely documented in Atrox666's review of "Themes from William Blake's...").

This is Ulver's closing chronicle of "the Trilogie" and it is not a very fitting conclusion (a better order would have been Kveldsfanger, Nattens, and then Bergtatt) but it is certainly an excellent black metal album. The production is a lot better than people say it is (it merely has a canny sound which adds a good atmosphere) and the music is top notch BM. Fast, hateful, and energetic. Think of the black metal parts of "Bergtatt" without the folk inspired stuff.

As is expected from Ulver, this is a great album.
