Cannibal Corpse
Vile
[Metal Blade]

The releasing of Cannibal Corpse's best album just happened to coincide with the departure of Chris Barnes, and the arrival of one of the scene's best, Corpsegrinder. Vile took the band a whole 180 degrees away from what they had done previously with "The Bleeding" and really brought them back to a more "Tomb Of the Mutilated" era sound, with the instruments being pushed back a little into the backround. The opener, "Devoured By Vermin" is one of the best CC tracks, which they actually ended up making a promo video out of. "Mummified in Barbed Wire" continues along the same lines as the first cut, incorporating some very technical riffing, and time changes. "Perverse Suffering" is another of CC's best tracks to date, and has one of the best tapping riffs I have ever heard about halfway through the song. Other standout tracks include "Orgasm Through Torture," "Bloodlands," and my favorite song they ever recorded, namely "Monolith." Again, Vile is a complete departure of the shit they were previuosly recording with Barnes, and anyone one who has heard Corpsegrinder will most likely agree when I say that he is ten times the vocalist. I might add that Chris has now gone on to form Six Feet Under, where he has grown dread locks, and invited Ice- T to sing on their newest release. Cocksmootch!!
