Cannibal Corpse
Hammer Smashed Face
[Metal Blade]

Hammer Smashed Face was the first CC Mini Disk, where they decided to take a slight break from Cannibal material, and instead pay homage to a few of their influences. The cd starts with the single "Hammer Smashed Face" taken from their "Tomb Of The Mutilated" album, and then goes on into the remixes. First off we have "the Exorcist" from the mighty Possessed. All those who remember Seven Churches, and when in time it came out, will agree with me as I say that it was one of the most, if not THE most, influential albums of all time. It certainly made an everlasting impact on myself. However, they do a fine job in the cover, and actually speed it up to about twice as fast as the original!! Hard to get used to, but definitely worth hearing it with blast beats played over it. Next up is the cover of Black Sabbath's "Zero The Hero," from the best heavy metal album released to date called "Born Again." It is one of Sab's heaviest, and clearly one of their darkest songs ever written (minus the lyrics), and the Cannibals again do a great job in playing it. However I do miss those keyboards. A very interesting and enjoyable album.
